A year at our school
Kindergarten Orientation
Starting Kindergarten is a big and exciting step! At Girraween Public School, our Kindergarten Orientation helps new students feel happy and ready for their first day.
During Orientation, children get to visit their new classrooms, meet their teachers, and explore the school. They do fun activities that help them learn what to expect and get used to the school routine.
Going to Orientation helps in many ways:
- Feel Confident: Spending time at school before the first day helps children feel calm and ready.
- Make Friends: Kids get to meet other students and start making new friends.
- Learn to Be Independent: Orientation activities help children practice things like following directions and looking after their own things.
- Involve Families: Parents and carers also get to meet the teachers and learn about the school, so they can help their child settle in.
Kindergarten Orientation is a great way for new students to start school feeling excited and prepared. It helps them get ready for a fun and successful year at Girraween Public School!
Year 6 Camp - Great Aussie Bush Camp
The Year 6 Camp is one of the most exciting and memorable experiences for our outgoing Year 6 students. This outdoor adventure offers much more than just fun — it’s a chance for students to grow in many important ways before they finish primary school.
At camp, students take part in a wide range of activities like hiking, team challenges, outdoor activities, and problem-solving games. These activities help students develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership as they work together to overcome challenges in the bush.
Attending camp also boosts students’ confidence and independence. Being away from home and trying new things encourages them to step out of their comfort zones and discover what they’re truly capable of.
The camp is a wonderful opportunity for students to make lasting friendships and strengthen the bonds they’ve built over the years. Sharing new experiences and supporting each other creates memories that will stay with them for life.
Most importantly, the Year 6 Great Aussie Bush Camp is a special way for our students to celebrate their final year at Girraween Public School. It marks the end of their primary school journey with fun, growth, and connection — preparing them for the exciting adventures ahead in high school.
